Indicator Phrasing

English: number of students newly enrolled in VET training in [specify the time period]

French: nombre d’étudiants nouvellement inscrits dans une formation d’EFP pendant [précisez la période]

Czech: počet nově zapsaných studentů odborného vzdělávání v [doplňte období]

What is its purpose?

The indicator assesses the number of students who at a given time period started attending vocational education training (VET).

How to Collect and Analyse the Required Data

1) To collect the required information, use the target VET institutions’ registers or education authorities' data on enrolment.

Important Comments

1) The enrolment numbers can sometimes be used as a basis for VET institution performance evaluation and for funds allocations by the educational authorities. In such circumstances different interests can be involved in student registration/ enrolment calculation and care should be taken in interpreting this indicator, especially when you do not have any control over the data recording.

2) Disaggregate the data by trade (e.g. carpenter, hairdresser), sex (male, female) and the target group (e.g. certain minorities, unemployed youth, people with disabilities).
